  • University of Texas Map Collection | Global maps scanned from CIA publications, as well as a good list of other maps. Especially strong collection of world city maps and includes several guides on maps, tides, projections, and bibliographies.

  • BBC Country Profiles | Country profiles from BBC News.
  • Country Profiles (Library of Congress) | These profiles offer brief, summarized information on a country’s historical background, geography, society, economy, transportation and telecommunications, government and politics, and national security.
  • FAO Country Profiles | Country profiles from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
  • GoinGlobal Country Profiles | Select country profiles including information on travel, business, work visas, interviewing, cultural advice, economic overview, etc. USF users may need to log in first through here.
  • NationMaster | Vast compilation of data from such sources as the CIA World Factbook, United Nations, World Health Organization, World Bank, World Resources Institute, UNESCO, UNICEF, and OECD.   • World Bank Country Profiles | Country profiles prepared by World Bank staff available for 157 nations.
Road and Travel Reports
  • U.S. Department of State Travel Advisories | Research and sign up for travel advisories, as well as risk and safety information when planning a trip abroad. The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs, offers many great resources.
  • ASIRT Country Road Travel Reports | Although a membership-based organization, the road travel reports from the Association for Safe International Road Travel (ASIRT) include detailed country specific urban and rural road conditions around the world.
