The database covers every doctoral dissertation completed in the U.S. at accredited institutions for the last 150 years. Includes some master's theses and foreign language dissertations.

The database represents the work of authors from over 1,000 graduate schools and universities in North America and from around the world. Over 60,000 new dissertations and theses are added to the database each year. The database includes bibliographic citations for materials ranging from the first U.S. dissertation, accepted in 1861, to those accepted as recently as last semester. Citations for dissertations published from 1980 forward also include 350-word abstracts written by the author. Citations for master's theses from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. With the USF Libraries' subscription to this resource, more than 600,000 titles are available in PDF format for immediate download. For those titles not available full text, UMI offers titles for purchase in microfilm or paper formats.
Center for Research Libraries: Foreign Doctoral Dissertations Database This collection includes doctoral dissertations submitted to institutions outside the U.S. and Canada. The range of years includes mid-19th century through the present, with the greatest concentration in the late 19th, early 20th centuries. This database is no longer being updated. The titles included in this database as well as almost 600,000 other dissertation titles are cataloged in CRL’s catalog (http://www.crl.edu/catalog/index.htm).
Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations Presents a collection of electronic theses and dissertations. Features the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD), an initiative to improve graduate education, increase the sharing of knowledge, and help universities build their information infrastructure. NDLTD is a project team at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg. Highlights the objectives. Links to related projects and related initiatives. Includes theses and dissertations from North Carolina State University, the University of Virginia, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and West Virginia University. Allows users to search the theses and dissertations. Provides access to other schools with electronic thesis and dissertation collections, including the University of Michigan and the University of Waterloo.
